Dear Play Park Families:

The Tigard Indoor Play Park has been an important ministry at Tigard United Methodist Church for many years. Ava Taylor led this program when it first began and grew it into a thriving community. Play Park was closed during the pandemic. We were excited to reopen Play Park in the fall of 2022 as the pandemic receded and are grateful for the hard work of staff Kelsey Bell and Karen Kiser to get it going again, and then for Karen to sustain it during the 2023-2024 school year.

We know that many connections have been made in our community through the Indoor Play Park. Unfortunately, one thing we have learned the past two years is that people’s lives and patterns have changed post pandemic. Attendance at Play Park has not returned to pre-pandemic levels. In addition, the staffing model that we have used to run Play Park is not financially sustainable. The Church Leadership Team has had many conversations imagining how we might do this differently, and those conversations will continue in the future.

However, because of these circumstances, the Tigard Indoor Play Park will NOT reopen for the 2024-25 school year and birthday parties will NOT be hosted this year. We are saddened by this decision but know it is the best decision at this moment. We are hopeful that another iteration of this ministry will emerge in the future.

Thank you for being a part of Play Park this past season.
