About Us
Tigard United Methodist Church seeks to be a community of grace, compassion, and hospitality; a place where each person encounters God’s unconditional love. This is a church where questions are encouraged and authentic conversation takes us deeper into the spiritual dimension of life. Through our ministry, we desire to promote new ways of being church in the world that create community and encourage people as they explore their path to God.
In our effort to faithfully love and serve others in Jesus’ name, we are a church that cares about the Tigard community and the world around us. From English Language Learner (ELL) classes to our food pantry, we offer a variety of opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people in our area.
Welcoming Statement
The Tigard UMC Welcoming Statement was overwhelmingly approved in worship on June 12, 2016 by the Tigard UMC congregation.
As followers of Jesus Christ, Tigard United Methodist Church welcomes and affirms everyone. Through his example, Jesus reveals a God whose love knows no boundaries. We believe that God is the source of diversity in our world, and that God affirms and celebrates our diversity. Our community of faith is enriched and strengthened by the uniqueness of each person and the wonderful variety of our humanity. We welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We welcome people of all races and ethnicities. We welcome people regardless of age, class, economic status, health, ability, or any other identifying label. Through God’s inclusive love we are bound together.
