Current Worship Series
September 1 – October 6
This fall will be a tumultuous time in America. With the presidential election in its final weeks, the political rhetoric will reach a fever pitch. Even people who do not follow politics closely will be impacted by the negativity and divisiveness around them. A question for Christians to ask themselves during this time is this: “How am I called to live in the midst of it all?” One answer to that question is for Christians to live prayerfully as “salt and light” for the people around them—rather than get swept up in the negativity. By assuming a contemplative, prayerful posture, followers of Jesus can move through this turbulent time rooted in God’s grace. Throughout this six-week worship series, we will explore characteristics of prayerful living—like longing, patience, and freedom—and we will be invited to try out specific prayer practices.
A Faithful Future for Tigard UMC
The Tigard UMC Church Council is engaged in an ongoing series of conversations about the future direction of Tigard UMC’s ministry. They have been reading a book called “Leading Faithful Innovation” which challenges us to be more open to God’s leading and curious about what God might be up to in our community and the lives of our Tigard area neighbors.
To help the Church Council in this discernment process, the people of Tigard UMC are invited to complete a survey about how you would prioritize the ministries of TUMC and the new directions in which God may lead us. The survey should take about 5-10 minutes to complete.
