Children’s Music Ministry at Tigard United Methodist Church
The Children’s Music Ministry at TUMC seeks to teach
basic musicianship skills in a positive setting while building relationships
within each group and between each group and the church as a whole. We are
making disciples for Jesus Christ who can sing in tune and keep a steady beat in
a fun and playful environment. The program includes two choirs that lead worship
on at least a monthly basis.
To enrich the musical life of the community, TUMC is the
home of Basically Music, offering Music TogetherŪ classes for infants through
kindergarten age children, and Simply MusicŪ piano lessons for school age
children through senior citizens.

Music at TUMC
Cantate Domino is a choir for grades 1-5.
Children learn excellent choral skills and put them to use in monthly or
bimonthly opportunities
to lead the family worship service. Basic musicianship skills and spiritual
growth are the rewards. Children gain the satisfaction of feeling they are an
important part of the church. No audition is required. All are welcome.
Cantate Domino welcomes kindergarten age children
beginning with Christmas Camp and continuing to the end of the year. This year,
in addition to presenting the music and drama for the 7 pm Christmas Eve family
worship service, the children will present Elijah, a musical drama early in
March.
